Well fight fans, the crew of Vytis, began our 2008 campaign with the Spring Opener. A beautiful cool sunny morning met the crew in the harbor. Vytis finished first in race one as the skies turned overcast and gray. The clouds brought strong warm puffs and shifting winds for the afternoon race. Vytis finished in 4th place in race two. A three way tie for first place with 5 points had us winning the day overall with the tie breaking best finish.
We were pleased with our results as we were without our racing main sail and competed with our 5 year old delivery main! We will be sure to have all our racing sails for the next regatta in two weeks when Vytis opens the Offshore Series in the Colors Regatta hosted by our home club, Columbia Yacht Club.
It felt great to be out on the water competing and everyone is very excited about the upcoming season.
